General Questions

What age does my child have to be to come to camp?

Your child must be 3 years or older, as well as potty trained to attend camp. The maximum age to attend is 14 years old.

back

Do I have to come right at 8 a.m. or can I come later?

You may arrive anytime during the session reserved.

back

How many children are in each group? What are the ages?

There are approximately ten children in each group. We group them by age, according to the ages of the children we have attending camp that session. You may request for your children to be in the same group as their friends. Please let us know the names of the children you want to be in the same group when dropping off for the day.

back

Can my 3-year-old be in the same group as her 6-year-old sibling?

Yes. However, the 6-year-old will have to be in the 3-year-old’s group. Please make sure the older child is okay with this. If you would like friends to be in the same group, please make sure you inform the front desk which children you would like to remain together.

back

Do they need to bring lunches, snacks, and/or drinks?

If they attend the morning session, they will need to bring a lunch and drink with them. If they are only here for the afternoon, they should already have eaten lunch. We will provide water and a snack in both the morning and afternoon session each day. If your child would like to bring money for the vending machine to purchase their own drink or snack, please leave the money at the kiosk and we will hold it for your child until snack time.

back

What do the children do?

Campers will be split into groups according to their age during each camp session. The coach will take their groups to different events every 15 minutes. The kids will learn gymnastics, play games, and participate in team-building and problem-solving activities. There is also a 30-minute rotation in each session where the kids have some downtime. Some examples of activities during this time include board games, arts and crafts, word puzzles, and storytime.

back

What are the qualifications of your staff members?

Most of our camp workers are in high school or college. Several of them have previous experience in gymnastics and/or cheerleading, as well as experience and a love of working with children. ASI runs background checks on every employee, and all of our staff members are required to receive ASI’s safety and gymnastics certifications.

back

How do we check in and check out for camp or other fun products?

All students will be signed in and out by their guardian . Each child will receive a wristband upon arrival and the guardian will receive a tag with the matching number on wristband. This number is required at the time of check out. If not, we will call the guardian listed on the account to receive permission to release.

back

What safety protocols do you have for ASI fun products?

All students will be signed in and out by their guardian . Each child will receive a wristband upon arrival and the guardian will receive a tag with the matching number on wristband. This number is required at the time of check out. If not, we will call the guardian listed on the account to receive permission to release.

back

Can the children leave the building?

No. Children cannot leave the building unless they are with a parent. There is someone at the front desk at all times to keep an eye on the front door.

back

How are the children disciplined?

In most cases, the child is given four warnings and then a 5-minute time-out. If the problem persists, we call the parent. After that, the child is sent home from camp for the day. If a child is caught fighting, they are automatically sent home for the day. ASI does reserve the right to send a child home for bad behavior or safety issues at any time.

back

Can I drop off my child early? Pick up late?

The camp sessions begin promptly at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. We do not allow early drop-off. The sessions are over at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. We allow a five-minute grace period when picking up your child, and then there is a $5 late fee for every five minutes that you are late.

back

Do they need to bring money?

We provide a snack and water once each session, so they do not need to bring money. However, if you would like to leave them money for the vending machines, we will hold it for them at the front desk so it does not get lost. Please let your children know that they need to come up to the front desk to retrieve their money when they are ready to use it.

back

What do they wear?

Cotton t-shirts and shorts are appropriate. Girls may wear leotards if they have them; we also sell them if you would like to purchase one. The children will go barefoot when they are in the gym but will need sandals/sneakers for outdoor activities. We have cubbies for the children to store their shoes and other belongings. The children will be active during the session so light-weight clothing is best.

back

Can they bring video games and trading cards?

We prefer that they do not bring toys from home, as they may cause arguments or become lost, damaged, or stolen. It is strictly up to the child and parent, but ASI will not be responsible if something happens to them.

back

Do the preschoolers take a nap?

The preschoolers do not take naps, however, they do have 30 minutes of downtime each session where they may color, build with blocks, do puzzles, or have storytime.

back

What do they eat for snacks?

We serve a variety of prepackaged snacks, such as crackers, cookies, pretzels. They will also get water to drink. They can also bring money to purchase a snack or drink from the vending machine. We ask that all money be left at the front desk and not with the child.

back

Is camp the same as a gymnastics class?

Camp is not the same as a gymnastics class. Gymnastics classes have smaller student-teacher ratios, are a bit more structured, and we chart the children’s progress.  In camp, the children are learning some gymnastics, but it is mostly for fun. The gymnastics skills are incorporated into the games the children play. However, if you would like your child to try a gymnastics class while here for a camp session, please let us know!

back

What do I do if my child needs to take medication while he/she is at camp?

We will be happy to give your child his/her medicine. Please give the medication to the front desk in its original container with the child’s name on it, as well as for instructions on how much should be taken and at what time.

back

My child is potty trained, but he/she still wears diapers. What happens if my child has an accident?

The preschool coaches make trips to the restrooms with their groups every hour to remind the children to use the restroom. However, we will not be responsible for changing diapers. If your child has an accident, we will call you to bring him/her a change of clothes.

back

My child has special needs. Can he/she attend your camps?

Your child is welcome to come and try it out. Each child is different, so we can try it once and plan from there. The biggest issue will be whether or not your child can stay with his/her group. This is a safety issue for all of the kids in the gym so that they do not get hurt. We have worked with several special needs children, and if we know that your child is coming, it may be possible for us to schedule additional staff. The only disadvantage to this is that you would not have as much flexibility in planning your camp schedule. We would need for you to make your reservations at least one week in advance so that we could plan ahead and schedule additional help for your child.
