In Memory of Coach Damian Shelton
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Coach Damian Shelton of ASI Plano West. He was involved in a car accident the morning of Saturday, May 12, 2018. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 20; more details below.
While in high school, Damian found his love of working with kids. Upon graduation, his passion grew stronger as he began working with the kids at ASI Gymnastics. There was never a day that he didn’t talk about “his” kids and their accomplishments. Each kid held a special place in his heart, especially his Gymmie Kids.
Two of the hundreds of students Damian influenced, Samson and Dante were recently featured as Student of the Month at ASI Gymnastics.
ASI Gymnastics offers their condolences to Damian’s family, friends, and everyone affected in this tragedy. The ASI Plano West staff appreciates the prayers and tributes for Coach Damian. Please pray for everyone involved, our staff, and the ASI families as they share bad news with their children. Damian will be greatly missed; he was a light in the gym to his coworkers and students.
ASI has created a Damian Shelton Scholarship in his honor. This scholarship will give a child with special needs the opportunity to experience the joys of gymnastics in our Gymmie Kids program.
