Graduating High School Seniors 2016

This year, ASI Gymnastics has a total of 52 graduating seniors!

ASI has a scholarship program that allows seniors to be eligible to earn money back based on the number of hours they have worked and the amount of money they have made. The founders of ASI Gymnastics encourage a continued education, and many coaches continue to work for ASI Gymnastics as they attend college and earn a degree. Last year, 32 of the ASI high school graduates qualified for the ASI High School Scholarship Award while working for ASI Gymnastics and attending high school. These 32 students earned a total of over $23,000 in scholarships! As said before, ASI is committed to continuing education, which is why these students are eligible to continue earning money for their college tuition, books, and other fees.

This year, our graduating seniors earned over $52,000 in scholarship money. That’s an ASI record! We are so proud of all of our graduates and want to send our a huge congratulations to all! We know you all will be successful in your future and we hope you don’t go far!

ASI Girl’s Team Program

What a great season it was for the girl’s competitive team program! We are so proud of all of our athletes for their great accomplishments this year! It is now time to look back on our performance for the season, the scores we received, and what our strengths and weaknesses were. Now, it is important to evaluate the season; this helps us to be proactive about the next season moving forward.

When it comes to the levels of team, it can be tricky to say when gymnasts should and shouldn’t move up a level. In a perfect world, a gymnast will move up one level each competition season. Why wouldn’t that make sense? It is that way in school, so why not in gymnastics? This, however, is a big misconception in the sport. Some skills take longer to learn than others. A higher level of competition means harder skills, stronger muscles, and sharper form. This can cause a shift in the moving up process. One gymnast may move up to Level 3 after competing one year of Level 2. Another gymnast may need to spend two years competing Level 2 before they are ready to move up to Level 3. In fact, if we feel a gymnast is not ready to compete at their best at the next level, we will recommend for them to stay in their current level another year to get stronger, perfect the skills that they have, and be better prepared for the next level the following year. We are all about the gymnast’s success! We want them to walk into a competition with confidence in themselves and their routines. We also want parents and gymnasts to know that repeating a level does not mean that you are “behind the curve” or “being held back a year”. In fact, it means that you will be that much more prepared for the next year when you do move up to the next level.

We want to give a huge kudos to all of our girl’s team coaches for the hours of dedication they put into each of their teams! They helped our girls finish off a great competition season and we want to say a huge THANK YOU for all that you do! Keep a look out for our teams and skills camps coming this SUMMER!

Gymmie Kid Competition

Each year, the Gymmie Kid competition proves to be one of the most exciting and “happy-tear” causing events of the year. Mary Kate, our Gymmie Kid Program Director puts on this event and invites gymmie kids from all ASI locations to come out and compete. Then, their coaches help them to create routines on 3-4 events. They practice and perfect their routines and get ready to strut their stuff at the meet! At the competition this past weekend, we had gymmie kid students from 8 of the 10 ASI locations competing with a total of 26 students! The smiles on all of their faces warm the hearts of every spectator, even bringing some to tears! This meet is so moving and every year it is a huge success!

What is the Gymmie Kid Program, you ask? “Gymmie Kids is a gymnastics program tailored to each exceptional child’s particular needs. It is goal directed towards gaining strength, improving gross motor skills, and increasing confidence while learning gymnastics skills at the same time.” -taken from the ASI Gymnastics Gymmie Kid Program page

Each student is evaluated and placed in either a standard class with a shadow coach or a private lesson. This way, the program is tailored to what the student is most comfortable with. A gymnastics plan is written for the student and their progress is followed throughout their time at ASI Gymnastics. There is nothing more exciting than watching the progress of your gymmie kid through their time with you as their coach!

ASI Gymnastics welcomes all exceptional students, including those with:

  • Genetic or chromosomal conditions
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Neuromuscular and orthopedic disorders
  • General developmental delays
  • Vision or hearing impairment
