Student Spotlight: Dylan Beskar

Dylan is a brand new student in the Gymnastics After School program at ASI Allen, but if you saw him out on the trampolines, you’d never guess he just started! This Marion Elementary kindergartener says his favorite subject at school so far has been recess. It’s a good thing he likes to play, because he gets an extra two hours to play after school, not to mention homework help, snack time, and creative games and challenges thanks to ASI!

Quote from Dylan

“I love the coaches because they’re so nice and fun!”

Even though Dylan has made so many new friends already this year in the GAS program, he says that what he loves the most about ASI is the coaches. Our coaches are committed to providing our kids with a fun, safe after-school experience, centered on positivity, so we’re glad Dylan is enjoying it!

Quote from Dylan

“I like to play and have fun with the other kids!”

Dylan loves to bounce on trampolines, and build up his muscles on the bars and the rings, but his favorite thing to do at ASI is to play in the foam pit. He loves to swing on the rope, and he is ASI Allen’s resident castle-building expert. He has enjoyed learning new gymnastics skills so much this year, gymnastics is his new favorite sport! Even though this is just his first year with ASI, Dylan is already at home. Now he can’t wait until his baby sister is old enough to come play too!

Coaches Corner: Brittany Watson

In case you haven’t heard, the coolest coach at ASI Firewheel is Brittany Watson! Brittany didn’t know anyone when she moved to Dallas from California, but after applying at ASI, her coworkers have become her family. She has worked her way up from an assistant coach to her current position as the Supervisor of our Gymnastics After School program. That’s what we call a hard worker!

Quote from Brittany

“When I interviewed for ASI, I felt right at home. Everyone was so welcoming and made me feel like I could be myself. That’s what it’s all about, and that’s what I try to pass on to the kids who come here.”

Brittany loves that she’s known as the “loud one” at ASI Firewheel, but we like to think of her as the fun one! Brittany’s positive attitude is contagious, and she gets to pass it on to the kids and coaches in her GAS program every day after school. Brittany gets to use her position as a supervisor to motivate and train new coaches, and it all comes back to building up her ASI family and making sure every kid has the best possible experience at ASI. Can you see why we like her so much?

Quote from Brittany

“ASI is all about the kids. Why not have a job that doesn’t feel like work? I can’t find a reason not to love what you do. So for anyone, young or old, who not only has a passion for kids but is a big kid at heart, ASI is the place for them.”

Coaches Corner: Ryan Reese

Meet Coach Ryan Reese, from ASI Plano West. Ryan started at ASI as a camp assistant last summer, and now he works Birthday Parties, Open Gyms, and his favorite, Gymnastics After School. Ryan is even training to become a Gymmie Kids coach, to work with children who have special needs. Ryan applied at ASI because he really enjoys working with children, and it is that same love of kids that keeps him coming into work every day. Ryan loves coaching at ASI because he gets to put smiles on kids’ faces every day.

Quote from Ryan

“It isn’t a regular work place. The people I work with are like a second family!”

Ryan grew up here in the Dallas area, and even attended ASI Plano West as a child. He must have liked it, because he keeps coming back! Now Ryan is a senior at Hebron High School, and he loves that ASI works with him to make sure his work schedule and school schedule are compatible and his education comes first. When he graduates, he wants to attend Texas State University to study Criminal Justice. Outside of the gym, Ryan likes to hunt and fish. In addition to his college goals, Ryan hopes to one day go on a mission trip to Africa.

Quote from Ryan

“I love seeing kids smile and just enjoy doing gymnastics.”

Student Spotlight: Katie Case

Katie being goofy with her brother, Aaron

Meet Plano West’s coolest camper, Katie Case! Katie was sad to say goodbye to all of the fun she had this summer at Survivor Camp, but now that school has returned, so has Katie! Katie knows that the ASI fun doesn’t end when school begins, so she’s back at Plano West in our Gymnastics After School program! Every day after school, her favorite coaches roll up to Homestead Elementary in the Gymmie Van, and take Katie and her brother to ASI for some fun, gymnastics, fun, a quick snack, fun, maybe a little homework, fun, and MORE FUN! With all that exercise, it’s no wonder she’s such a talented athlete!

Quote from Katie

“I love the trampolines because… It’s fun being upside down!”

Katie has been coming to ASI for six years, and she is as much a part of our lives as we are of hers! Katie started in a Girls Bronze class, worked her way up to our competitive Girls Team, and now she has moved on to Power Tumbling to become a cheerleader! She’s learning “all kinds of flips!” as she puts it. With her impressive gymnastics skills and even more impressive positive attitude, Katie will always have a place at ASI! Maybe one day she’ll be… COACH KATIE!!!

Student Spotlight: Ricardo Schmitz

Ricardo Schmitz is 8 years old, and he has had a blast this summer at Survivor Camp at ASI Firewheel! Ricardo is a very nice, very active kid. He’s tons of fun! When he grows up, he wants to be an artist, and if he were an animal, he’d be a horse. Who doesn’t like horses? Ricardo loves coming to ASI because it’s fun and active, just like him!

Quote from Ricardo

“Gymnastics makes you have muscles and keeps you healthy.”

Ricardo is originally from Russia, but now he lives here in Texas. He is in elementary school in Garland and his favorite subject is math. He loves running around ASI, and especially loves jumping into the pit. Although this is his first summer at camp, he hopes to one day learn how to do a flip. We can help you with that, Ricardo! Try a power tumbling class!
