ASI Gymnastics is excited to offer an amazing opportunity for our young gymnasts to grow in the world of gymnastics! Our recreational classes are built on the idea that all children can learn gymnastics at his or her level. This creates a natural progression for each gymnast into learning more advanced skills with correct form at their own pace. A lot of recreational students look up to the team girls in their practice and get excited to potentially join them some day. That is why this summer ASI is offering a chance for your gymnast to add on some extra hours in the gym at our skills/team camps!
These camps will be divided into two categories, skills camp and team camp. The skills camps will be available to all students in recreational classes, including boys and girls team gymnasts, ages 5+. The team camp will be offered to those currently on girl’s competitive team, Levels 3 and up. There will also be a boy’s team camp open to all current boys team members. The camps will start the week of June 13th, and they will occur every other week. The skills camps will occur on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of those same weeks. Boys and girls team camps will be on Fridays.
The Bars Camp will focus primarily on skills and conditioning work on bars, focusing on positions and precise detail work that may not get a chance to be worked on in a one hour recreational class. The Tumbling Camp will put its main focus on the back handspring, while also emphasizing the foundation of a strong handstand, bridge, cartwheel, and shape before working the back handspring. Strength and Flexibility Camp is an important camp session because it gymnasts will work on conditioning and strength building exercises to increase athletic development and skill acquisition. Summer is a very important time for gymnasts in their training cycle, no matter what their recreational or team goals are. These camps offer a time to perfect their current skills and/or learn new skills that could promote them to the next level. We hope you take advantage of this excellent training opportunity!

ASI Allen has the pleasure of having Will as a part of their family. Coach Will first stepped foot at ASI for his very own 5th birthday party. Now, one of his friends from church encouraged him to apply. From then on out, he has been with us for 10 months. It feels like he has been here longer! Will was first hired for Summer Camp, but towards the end, he decided to stay with us and branch out into our remaining Fun Products. He coaches Camp, Open Gym, Parents’ Night Out, Birthday Parties, and is a part of our Gymnastics After School staff. His favorite event to coach is birthday parties. He loves making a child feel extra special on their day! Will is very positive, energetic, and enthusiastic with everyone he comes across. Our kiddos that attend our events definitely look forward to having fun with Coach Will!

Jeremy has been a part of the ASI Allen family for a little over 6 months. He started with a placement evaluation, and was placed into Boys Silver. He promoted from Boys Silver to Boys Gold within 4 months of being in the program. A few events he enjoys of gymnastics are floor and trampoline. Jeremy loves gymnastics because it is FUN! The whole staff can tell he enjoys gymnastics by the big smile he has once he steps foot onto ASI grounds, and all the excitement that radiates from him.

ASI Gymnastics’ boys team program has been growing over the past few years and we are so happy with all of the progress! There is a boy’s competitive team at all ASI locations, including Dallas/Fort Worth and the Houston area. The boy’s program at ASI is similar to that of the girls, in that there are skills needed for each level of competition and routines that need to be learned on each event. The boy’s program includes six events, unlike the girl’s program, which includes four. The boy’s events are Vault, Parallel Bars, High Bar, Rings, Pommel Horse, and Floor. ASI has boy’s teams from Level 1-4. In the 2014-2015 competitive year there were 54 boys on the ASI teams. This year, there were a total of 69 boys on team and we only expect this number to keep growing!
